Cote d’Ivoire : Drogba wins 2013 Golden Foot award

Cote d’Ivoire and Galatasary striker Didier Drogba has won the 2013 Golden Foot award in Monte Carlo. The 35-year-old beat a star-studded list of the World’s best footballers aged above 28 and still playing. He becomes the first African player to scoop the prestigious prize and the second who has played in the Premier League withManchester Unitedafter Ryan Giggs. Other nominees for this year included Cameroon international of Chelsea Samuel Eto’o Fils alongside Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal /Real Madrid), Andres Iniesta (Spain / Barcelona), Frank Lampard (England / Chelsea), David Trezeguet (France / River Plate), Andrea Pirlo (Italy / Juventus), Iker Casillas (Spain / Real Madrid), David Beckham (England) and Miroslav Klose (Germany / Lazio). The 2012 edition was won by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
