Monrovia — The former Chairman of the Board
of Directors of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), Mr. Roberts
Allen Sirleaf, has called on his critics to substantiate claims of
corruption against him.
The former NOCAL Board Chairman and Senior Advisor to the President
Sirleaf, who appeared on a local radio talk show recently, pointed out
that while serving as Board Chairman of NOCAL for 18 months, he did not
receive any compensation or Board fees as being rumored.
Mr. Sirleaf, a son of the Liberia's President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf,
challenged those who think that he squandered the country's resources
to substantiate their claims, rather than just talking. He said that it
is a disservice to the Liberian people to talk freely about others
without evidence.
The former NOCAL chairman also averred that he is opened to audit at
anytime as he did not do anything wrong while he was at NOCAL.
"If anybody has documentary evidence of corruption against me, let
the person produce it, I am opened to audit at anytime," said Mr.
Sirleaf.
The former NOCAL furthered that whenever he traveled on behalf of the
Company, he was only reimbursed for his expenses. "Since talking is
cheap in Liberia, people just jump up to talk things they cannot
substantiate," he added.
